Hey everyone, my name is Carey, and welcome to my shop, Essence Home.

I was made redundant from a job I was in for 24 years, back in the summer of 2024. Feeling lost, confused and angry I was desperate to do something for myself. 

That's where essence was born, out of the desire to change my path and make myself happy. So I created a shop that is full of everything that makes me happy!

5 months in building my online shop, I managed to get a fixed retail space, in the heart of Banbury, Oxfordshire. This is when my daughter Liv, joined helping me with creative direction and building our brand.

Since opening our store, we have won two awards and now we have made it to the final of the SBA and it honestly feels surreal. We aren’t ‘playing’ shop keeper anymore!!! 

Everything we stock is hand picked by me or Liv, and if I wouldn't put it in my house, then I won't put it in the shop. 

As well as filling the shop with colour, holding eco friendly values are so important to us. We can have beautiful homes, but why should it cost the environment? We focus on stocking small and eco friendly brands who hold similar values to us (making sure they are super fun and colourful too!) alongside popular brands like Addison Ross, Bloomingville and HKLIVING to make up our collections.
