The Face Behind Essence Home

Hey there – I’m Carey, the face behind Essence Home.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of starting my own venture. But life kept me busy—kids, house, work, husband, pets—you name it. And, of course, there was always that lingering fear of taking the leap. Then, in June 2024, after 24 years in an industry I knew inside out, I was made redundant. Surprisingly, it felt like the push I needed. If that hadn’t happened, I’d probably still be dreaming about going solo for the next decade. This was my moment, and I was ready to seize it.

Over the last few months, I’ve toyed with various ideas for self-employment (cue the knowing throat clears and eye rolls from my friends and family!). Ultimately, I decided to follow a passion I’ve had since I was a child—running a shop. Why not? I still remember the joy of putting bits from around the house onto the kitchen table and pretending to run my own store.

I love pieces that celebrate the earth and nature, and I'm definitely that person who has created a blank, neutral living canvas and pops colour through the use of soft furnishings that enhance the cosy feeling of a well-loved space.

Essence Home is built on five core values: Sustainability, Quality, Customer Happiness, Integrity, and Innovation. I’m excited to take you along on this journey as I discover and source quality pieces that align with these values, while also giving a platform to independent suppliers who create eco-friendly products.
