Reflecting, Recalibrating, and the Year of the Horse: Why I’m Embracing a Slower 2026
If you’ve been hanging around our socials lately, you might have noticed things have been a little bit quiet on our side. And honestly? That was entirely on purpose.
After the absolute mad rush of Christmas—the packing, the shipping, the late nights—I hit a wall. Instead of jumping straight back onto the hamster wheel in January, I’ve been using this time to just… be. To refresh, recalibrate, and try to figure out exactly what is in store for 2026. 🤍
The Trap of Living in the Future
Here is the truth about being a small business owner that people don't always see: it can be incredibly overwhelming.
There is this constant pressure to always be thinking ten steps ahead. We are planning spring launches when there is snow on the ground, and thinking about Christmas before the leaves even turn brown. It feels like I’m constantly living in the future, never actually present in the moment right in front of me.
So, this year, I’m making a pact with myself. My plan is to slow down. To reflect. To actually breathe. 🌸
A complicated relationship with Social Media
Part of that slowing down means changing how I show up online. Don't get me wrong—social media is an amazing platform for my business. It’s how I found so many of you! But lately? It hasn't been so amazing for my brain.
I realised that the more I scrolled, the more I found myself comparing my journey to everyone else's. I was feeling heavier, more negative than usual, and losing sight of my own "why."
Does anyone else feel that? That pressure to be constantly "on"? I’ve realised that to create things I love, I need a little bit of quiet.
Embracing the Year of the Horse
But! It’s not all quiet reflection. Here’s to the Year of the Horse!!!
To me, this represents new beginnings, strength, and moving forward with intention. We have some truly exciting things ahead 👀. But instead of rushing toward them, we are fully embracing the journey to get there. 🫶
